The Somali Museum of Minnesota is looking for enthusiastic individuals who can organize and deliver cultural programs at the Museum and in the community, including schools, nonprofits, neighborhood organizations, and other community spaces. Qualified individuals will also have the confidence to manage and build relationships with community partners and professional and organizational skills. The Program Coordinator is responsible for organizing and leading programs in collaboration with community partners.

About the Somali Museum of Minnesota: The Somali Museum of Minnesota is one of the museums in the world devoted to preserving and advancing Somali culture and art. It is the home of Somali creativity in North America. It presents a one-of-a-kind collection of Somali traditional and contemporary art and artifacts and serves as an essential resource for Somali artists in the diaspora. As a unique institution in Minnesota, the Somali Museum uses Somali art as a tool to build community connections: between Somali-American youth and older generations, and between Somalis and non-Somalis learning about Somali culture for the first time.  

Responsibilities:
Organize, schedule, and run programs with community partners,
Oversee daily calendar with other program staffs,
Coordinate the activities of the program  Set priorities for managing the programs,
Co-lead programs meeting weekly,
Creating Marketing plans to increase audience engagement ,
Update the calendar with necessary events,
Network with  potential community partners,
Prepare or assist in preparing grant requests and funding continuation from outside sponsors,
Provide reports to the Operations Director to report to funders.


Requirements:
Strong verbal and written communication skills;
Ability to work independently ;
Strong timeliness and accountability ;
Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work;
Strong presence and leadership in instructional or group setting;
Ability to work independently while simultaneously maintaining a team focus;
Ability to relate to and work with diverse populations in a variety of settings;
Technically proficient with computers and databases;
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends;
Must be comfortable using google drive and have the ability to learn new computer software. 


Prefered Qualifications: 
Familiarity with Somali Culture;
Fluent in Somali; 
Previous museum experience ;
Experience with marketing campaigns on social media;
Able to be flexible and fit into many roles such as programs development and being the occasional tour guide for the museum;
Proficiency in Adobe Suite.

Hours: Part Time: 32hr/wk
Rate: $17/hr
