Somali Culture 101: Cultural Education Workshops for Youth and Professionals
"All immigrants are artists. ...
Re-creating your entire life is a form of reinvention on par with the greatest works of literature."
-- Edwidge Danticat, Haitian-American author and activist
Immigrant populations in Minnesota must explore and craft the ways they will carry their culture forward as they build their community in the United States. The Somali Museum is your resource for educating yourself and training your colleagues about the rich heritage of Minnesota's Somali community.
The Somali Museum offers tours for professional groups and employee trainings focus on the aspects of Somali culture that influence life for Minnesotan-Somalis. Groups will experience: a guided tour of the museum, listen to a "Somali Culture 101" lecture, and ask their questions about the Somali people and tradition.
If your group is unable to visit the museum, consider inviting the Mobile Culture Show presentation and lecture to visit your workplace.
Contact the Museum at 612-234-1625 or somalimuseum.mn(at)gmail.com to schedule your group's tour.
